
Shawsheen Valley Technical School opened it doors in 1965. It serves the communities of Bedford, Billerica, Burlington, Tewksbury and Wilmington. The schools enrollment is over 1,200 students. The school offers a high school experience that optimizes student aptitude, achievement and skills by integrating vocational-technical and academic curricula in order to prepare students to begin adult life and careers immediately and independently.
The instructors and students of the Metal Fabrication and Welding Department are hosting this AWS Boston Section event.
In the shop there will be a demonstration from Matt Eaton of Magnatech of Orbital Pipe Welding. Since 1971 Magnatech has been manufacturing a wide range of systems for orbital tube and pipe welding applications.
Chris Bremer of Bremer Sales and Marketing will demonstrate the Steel Max metal cutting saw, Revco Strong Hands gloves and Mathey-Dearman pipe cutting and beveling.
There will also be a demonstration of the Arcair Slice Pak Exothermic cutting system. The exothermic process cuts through any metal using only oxygen.
