Introduction:
This scholarship fund was established in 2005 by the AWS Kansas Section 35.
Purpose:
The purpose for this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those individuals attending accredited colleges, engineering colleges or universities with an emphasis on welding and joining applications and studies.
Eligibility:
The AWS Kansas Section 35 scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a college certificate, A.A.S. or higher degree in welding and joining applications and / or related studies. All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements.
1. Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years old.
2. Applicant must be at least a high school graduate, GED, college freshman or above.
3. Applicant must have maintained a minimum of 2.5 grade point average in welding or related courses.
4. Financial need is required to qualify.
5. Applicant must submit all required application information directly to AWS Kansas State Education Chairman.
6. Applicant must be a citizen of the U.S.A.
7. Applicants must show an emphasis on welding related applications in their course-work.
8. Recipients may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may receive this award for a maximum of two years.
The award will be presented within the state of Kansas AWS Section 35, unless determined otherwise.
The AWS Kansas Section 35 does not discriminate by age, race, color, national origin, disability, creed, or gender.
Selection:
The selection will be chosen by the Section Scholarship Committee. The Section Scholarship Committee will determine the award recipient by July 15th of each year.
Award:
Two - $1000.00 will be given in 2012.
Additionally – two - $500.00 awards will be granted.
No award will be paid directly to the recipient. All awards will be paid to enrolled recipient's academic institution on their behalf.

b. Creativity in solving problems
c. Demonstrated responsibility on own initiative

e. Organizational skills (ability to handle multiple tasks, time management.)
f. Participation in class, campus and outside organizations.
g. Participation in AWS Student or Section activities is desirable.
h. General background information.
