AWS June 15th Overview

Our June Chicken BBQ Meeting went great! We had over 35 attendees and presented the American Legion with these two amazing metal sculptures. Both sculptures were created by high school welding students from local BOCES. Thank you to everyone who helped make this year a big success! Stay tuned for our Fall meeting schedule.

Our ticket sales for events and fundraisers go toward scholarships and awards to deserving students just like Hayley. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

 


March 28th Meeting Overview

Thank you to everyone who attended our March 28th meeting! We had the pleasure of hearing from our Student Liason and Spencerport BOCES instructor, Josh Padlick. In addition, we learned about SciAps and their x-ray and laser alloy identification equipment.


AWS Rochester Section Kicks Off 2017 Meeting

Our January 2017 Meeting was a huge success at Acro Industries! The Meeting featured 30 attendees for a 2-hour plant tour. Special thanks to Acro President, Bob Coyne, and our very own AWS Technical Representative, Rich Manginell. Here's to a great year for the AWS Rochester Section.


AWS President Visited Rochester Section

The AWS Rochester Section had the great pleasure of facilitating a morning and evening meeting with AWS President David L. McQuaid. David spoke on the topics of heat straightening and also field welding repairs.

Congratulations to our AWS Rochester Section Scholarship Winners! Pictured here alongside Chairman Kevin Adair is Mr. Aaron Buckland, winner of the $500 reward. In addition, $300 was awarded to Mr. Chris Seils and $100 to Mr. Ethan Hall.



AWS Rochester Section presented the American Legion in Henrietta a welded metal sculpture purchased at the Upcycle for Autism Fundraiser. Pictured here is AWS Educational Chairman Scott Lord, American Legion Manager Ralph Litzenberger and also AWS District Director Michael Krupnicki.



Upcycle for Autism was a fundraiser for AutismUp sponsored by our Rochester Section and local BOCES. The event raised $15,000 gross revenue for AutismUP and 6 Vocational Tech Centers (36+ districts) created 63 sculptures that were auctioned in June!







Special thanks to all of those who attended our March 2016 Meeting that featured an "Ask the Specialists" event. Our November 2015 meeting was a huge success! Special thanks to guest speaker Jim Brognano and all those who attended the meeting. Our NEXT MEETING will take place January 12th, 2016 at 5:30pm at 260 Middle Road, Henrietta, NY.

  • FABTECH - Thermal Spray Coating
    November 6, 2017 / Chicago, Ilinois
  • This group will discuss most aspects of thermal spray coatings including thermal spray processes, equipment, pre and post treatment, applications, and industry usage. Processes covered will include flame spray (powder, wire, and rod), detonation spray, high velocity oxy/fuel spray (HVOF), cold spray, plasma spray, and twin wire electric arc spray.

  • FABTECH - RWMA Resistance Welding School
    November 7-8, 2017 / Chicago, Ilinois
  • RWMA offers this intensive two-day course about the basics of resistance welding once a year. The school is designed to give operators, production supervisors, engineers, and others the opportunity to study, better understand, and further their knowledge in the theory, applications, and equipment used in the resistance welding process.

2017 District Conferences – Staff Report

  • Overall, when compared to the welding industry, the American Welding Society had a reasonably good year in 2016. We want to thank our Volunteers and Staff for their devoted efforts in making AWS successful.

Welder Training Scholarships

Welder Training Scholarships are available to AWS Districts to provide funds to students seeking welder training through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training programs, such as Tulsa Welding School and Hobart Institute of Welding Technology; or for an AWS Certified Welder (CW) seminar.
